Hawkers Dupe Elderly Woman of Lakhs in Gold Jewelry in Howrah

•An elderly woman in Deulpur, Howrah, was conned out of gold jewelry worth several lakhs by two men disguised as hawkers.
•The culprits used a powder to seemingly intoxicate the 70-year-old Mridula Mondal, making her unable to resist as they removed her ornaments.
•They promised to make the jewelry shinier, packed it in a powder-filled packet, and replaced it with plastic bangles before fleeing.
•Mridula Mondal's son and daughter-in-law, both goldsmiths, reported the incident to Panchla Police Station upon returning home.
•Police are investigating, examining CCTV footage which shows two youths on a motorcycle involved in the crime.
