Three members of a family in Malda were brutally attacked with a sickle for protesting the cutting and selling of bamboo trees.

Paritosh Mondal, his wife Menaka Mondal, and son Bishal Mondal were seriously injured and admitted to Malda Medical College Hospital.

The incident occurred in the Munshi Tola area under Vaishnavnagar Police Station, stemming from a long-standing land dispute with neighbors.

The accused, led by neighbor Abhijit Mondal, allegedly attacked the family after they protested the bamboo theft.

A written complaint was lodged, leading to the arrest of five individuals, with locals demanding strict punishment and increased police surveillance.
