•The accused, Meghnath Shil, attacked Mukesh after Mukesh, in a drunken state, verbally abused Meghnath's wife.
•Mukesh Sau had an extramarital affair with Meghnath Shil's wife, a resident of Panihati Paschim Palli area.
•The critically injured Mukesh Sau was rescued by police and admitted to Balram Hospital; his condition is serious.
•Khardah Police arrested Meghnath Shil, and his wife later surrendered at the police station.
