Cooking Oil Prices to Drop as Centre Slashes Import Duty Nationwide

Central government reduces import duties on crude cooking oils to provide relief to consumers.

Import duty on crude palm oil, crude soybean oil, and crude sunflower oil cut from 20% to 10%.
•
Overall tax burden on these oils will decrease from 27.5% to 16.5%, effective May 31.

Ministry of Consumer Affairs monitoring states like Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh to ensure benefits reach consumers.
•
Many companies have already reduced prices, with further drops expected as new low-duty consignments arrive.
