Wildlife Protection Act 1972: Know the Strict Laws, Avoid Unintentional Crimes
•
The Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, aims to safeguard India's wildlife and environment.
•
Hunting, including catching or disturbing animals (Section 9), and illegal trade of animal parts (Section 44, 48, 49, 49B) are strictly prohibited.
•
Illegal possession of wild animals or their parts (Section 39(3), 57) is a punishable offense.
•
Destroying nature in sanctuaries/national parks (Section 29, 35(6)) and unauthorized entry or carrying weapons (Section 27, 31) are illegal.
•
Setting fire in protected areas (Section 30, 35(8)) and aiding any offense (Section 52) also carry strict penalties.
