- •Elections are underway for 29 municipal corporations across the state, requiring a Voter ID or electoral identity card to cast a vote.
- •The e-EPIC (Electronic Electoral Photo ID Card) facility, launched in 2021, allows voters to download their digital voter card online, which can be saved in DigiLocker or printed.
- •To download e-EPIC, visit the Election Commission's service portal, log in with mobile number and OTP, then select 'e-EPIC Download', enter EPIC number and state, verify with OTP, and download.
- •Even without a physical Voter ID, you can vote if your name is on the electoral roll by presenting an election slip printout or any one of 12 specified identity proofs.
- •Accepted alternate ID proofs include Passport, Aadhaar Card, Driving License, PAN Card, government-issued employee photo ID, bank/post office passbook with photo, Disability Certificate, MNREGA Job Card, pension documents, official identity cards for MPs/MLAs, freedom fighter photo ID, and Health Insurance Scheme card with photo.
Why It Matters: Voters can still cast their ballot even without a physical Voter ID by using e-EPIC or 12 alternative ID proofs.
