Indian Railways builds 4th line in Kharagpur: End to delays, major economic boost
•South Eastern Railway to construct 111 km fourth line from Santragachi to Kharagpur in Kharagpur Division within 5 years.
•Project aims to eliminate 'latecomer' tag, reduce delays for local and long-distance trains, and streamline services.
•Approved in the Union Budget with an allocation of 2905 crore rupees, including one mega bridge, 15 major bridges, 100 small bridges, and 12 road underbridges.
•Expected to boost railway revenue, improve freight transportation, and develop industrial areas like Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Port and Haldia Port.
•Will benefit Howrah, Paschim Medinipur, Purba Medinipur, save 452 crore rupees annually, and boost tourism.
