Pune-Mumbai Expressway's 14,500 Cr Masterplan: 6 New Tunnels, Faster Travel

•Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) unveils a 14,500 crore master plan to upgrade the Pune-Mumbai Expressway.
•The plan includes constructing six new tunnels and adding two additional lanes on both sides to ease traffic and speed up travel.
•Project aims to accommodate 1.5 lakh vehicles daily, reduce congestion in ghat sections, and enhance safety.
•The Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been submitted, with official approval expected in April, requiring 104 hectares of land.
•New tunnels will be built at Khandala (1), Kamshet (2), Bhatan (1), Adoshi (1), and Madap (1) under a 'Build, Operate, Transfer' (BOT) model.
