IITian's 'Vaayu' Biodigester Turns Kitchen Waste into Cooking Gas, Saves LPG

•Priyadarshan Shahstrabuddhe, an IITian from Pune, developed 'Vaayu', a biodigester that converts kitchen waste into cooking gas.
•He hasn't used an LPG cylinder in seven years, cooking meals using gas generated from 11 kg of daily food waste from neighbors.
•Vaayu works by adding organic waste, which natural bacteria break down to release methane gas, stored and connected directly to the stove.
•The system is simple, environmentally friendly, and has converted over 1,000 tonnes of organic waste into fuel.
•Over 350 homes, canteens, and hotels use Vaayu, saving approximately 2,500 LPG cylinders annually, promoting sustainability.
