400-Year-Old Barapullah Bridge Restored to Mughal Glory by ASI
•The 400-year-old Barapullah Bridge, neglected for years, has been fully restored by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
•Located beneath the modern Barapullah flyover, the Mughal-era structure underwent a two-phase restoration project completed between January 2025 and February 2026.
•Restoration began after a site visit by then-Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena in August 2024, addressing encroachments and a choked drain.
•The project involved removing debris, extensive structural repairs including damaged piers, and revealing the original Delhi quartzite material.
•The bridge, now open to the public, features reinstated boundaries, iron grills, and grassing to prevent soil erosion, with the Barapullah drain still under monitoring.
