Andhra Pradesh to Build 35 New Waiting Homes for Tribal Pregnant Women

•Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav announced 35 new birth waiting homes for tribal pregnant women.
•These homes, under seven ITDAs, aim to provide care a week before delivery, ensuring safer institutional deliveries.
•Construction cost is over Rs 12 crore, with 22 units expected to be completed by May/June and the rest by year-end.
•Each home, costing Rs 35 lakh, can accommodate four pregnant women and attendants, offering Rs 200/day for food.
•The initiative links to PHCs, CHCs, and area hospitals, expecting to benefit 13,000 pregnant women annually upon completion.
