Andhra Pradesh to Build 35 New Waiting Homes for Tribal Pregnant Women

Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav announced 35 new birth waiting homes for tribal pregnant women.
•
These homes, under seven ITDAs, aim to provide care a week before delivery, ensuring safer institutional deliveries.
•
Construction cost is over Rs 12 crore, with 22 units expected to be completed by May/June and the rest by year-end.
•
Each home, costing Rs 35 lakh, can accommodate four pregnant women and attendants, offering Rs 200/day for food.
•
The initiative links to PHCs, CHCs, and area hospitals, expecting to benefit 13,000 pregnant women annually upon completion.
