Bangladesh President Summons New Parliament Session on March 12

•President Mohammad Shahabuddin summoned the first session of the 13th Parliament for March 12.
•The session follows the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) forming the government after the Feb 12 general elections.
•The BNP holds a two-thirds majority, with Jamaat-e-Islami as the main opposition.
•The session, starting at 11 am, will elect a new speaker.
•Uncertainty surrounds who will chair the inaugural sitting as the previous speaker resigned and deputy speaker is in jail.
