Centre: No Data on Low SC/ST Representation at Senior Levels in Govt

•Centre informed Lok Sabha there's no data on disproportionately low SC/ST representation at Joint Secretary level and above.
•Union Minister Jitendra Singh stated reservation policy applies to SC/ST in promotion up to lowest rung of Group A (15% SC, 7.5% ST).
•DoPT issued instructions for ministries to designate liaison officers and create reservation cells for policy implementation.
•Ministries are also required to convene Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs) in advance to fill vacancies timely.
•Overall representation of SCs and STs as of January 1, 2025, is reported to be more than 15% and 7.5% respectively.
