Chhattisgarh Wildlife Crisis: 38 Elephants, 9 Tigers Dead in 26 Months, Minister Reveals Causes

Chhattisgarh reported 38 elephant and 9 tiger deaths in the last 26 months, as per Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap in the Legislative Assembly.
•
Additionally, 562 other wild animals, including leopard, bear, and blue bull, also died during the same period.
•
Causes for elephant deaths included 14 by electrocution and 10 by drowning.
•
Tiger deaths included 2 by electrocution (poaching) and 2 by infighting; one tiger from Raipur's Nandan Van Zoo died at Vantara, Gujarat.
•
Deaths of other wild animals at Nandan Van Zoo were due to infighting, asphyxia, heat stroke, pneumonia, and infection.
