Cricketer, Academic, Scholar Join TMC Ahead of Bengal Elections
•Former Bengal cricketer Shib Shankar Paul, Santal academic Tanushree Hansda, and Islamic scholar Md Mufti Abdul Matin joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Tuesday.
•Shib Shankar Paul, a former first-class fast bowler, runs a cricket academy nurturing grassroots talent.
•Md Mufti Abdul Matin, known as Matin Saheb, is associated with 86 madrasas across several districts.
•Tanushree Hansda, an assistant professor and head of the Bengali department at Heramba Chandra College, has 15 years of teaching experience and is active in the All India Santali Writers’ Association.
•State Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya highlighted the government's 'Khelashree' scheme and commitment to empowering Scheduled Castes and Tribes, ahead of the West Bengal assembly elections on April 23 and 29.
