Delhi to Remodel 300 Km Drains in Major Anti-Waterlogging Push

Delhi government plans to remodel 300 km of its drainage network in the next financial year.
•
This is the first phase of the new Drainage Master Plan, designed to meet the city’s drainage requirements over the next 30 years.
•
The plan aims to reduce waterlogging by 50% in 3 years and flood-related accidents by 30% in 5 years, at an estimated cost of Rs 57,362 crore.
•
PWD has sanctioned projects in waterlogging hotspots like Azadpur, Mehrauli-Badarpur road, Nangloi, and Khanjawala.
•
A similar drain remodelling project for Model Town-II, Model Town-III, and Kushal Cinema Road has been approved for Rs 48.13 crore.
