FSSAI Licenses Now Valid Forever, No More Renewals: Major Boost for Businesses

FSSAI registrations and licenses will now have perpetual validity, eliminating the need for periodic renewals.
•
This reform aims to significantly reduce compliance costs, paperwork, and interaction with licensing authorities for food business operators.
•
The turnover threshold for FSSAI registration has been increased from Rs 12 lakhs to Rs 1.5 crore, effective April 1, 2026.
•
Street food vendors registered with municipal corporations will be considered deemed registered with FSSAI, benefiting over 10 lakh vendors.
•
A new technology-enabled, dynamic risk-based inspection framework has been introduced to incentivize compliant FBOs.
