FSSAI introduces perpetual licences, removes renewal requirement for food businesses

FSSAI registrations and licences will now have perpetual validity, eliminating periodic renewals every 1-5 years.
•
The turnover limit for basic registration has been raised from ₹12 lakh to ₹1.5 crore, effective March 10.
•
Street food vendors registered with municipal corporations will be automatically considered FSSAI registered, benefiting over 10 lakh vendors.
•
A new technology-enabled risk-based inspection framework will focus inspections on higher-risk operators.
•
These reforms aim to improve ease of doing business, reduce paperwork, and align with NITI Aayog recommendations.
