Gujarat to establish satellite launchpad near Kodinar, eyes space sector boom

•Gujarat government plans a satellite launchpad near Kodinar, Gir Somnath district, to strengthen the space sector.
•The site, between Diu and Kodinar, was identified by IN-SPACe as suitable for satellite launches, similar to Sriharikota.
•The state launched the Gujarat SpaceTech Policy in April 2025 and is setting up a 100-acre Gujarat Space Park near Sanand.
•Azista Aerospace is investing Rs 500 crore to establish India's first private-sector satellite manufacturing unit at the Space Park.
•The initiative aims to position Gujarat as a key hub in India's expanding space sector, addressing global demand for satellites.
