Odisha Govt Sanctions Rs 4.65 Cr Compensation for Malkangiri Clash Victims

Odisha government sanctioned over Rs 4.65 crore compensation for families affected by violence in Malkangiri district.
•
Rs 20 lakh ex gratia included for the next of kin of Lake Podiami, a Koya woman killed in the December clash.
•
Funds allocated: Rs 3.34 crore for household items, animals, vehicles; Rs 1.10 crore for shops, houses, and other buildings.
•
The clash between tribals and Bengali settlers in December last year resulted in one death, 200 torched properties, and 1,000 settlers fleeing.
•
Malkangiri Bengali Samaj also distributed Rs 1.1 crore aid, including Rs 1 lakh to the deceased tribal woman's family.
