Odisha to expand rice ATM service to four more districts
•
Odisha government plans to open rice ATMs in Jharsuguda, Nabarangpur, Keonjhar, and Dhenkanal districts.
•
Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister KC Patra announced the expansion in the assembly.
•
The first rice ATM in Odisha was launched in Mancheswar, Bhubaneswar (Khurda district) in 2024.
•
Since July 2024, over 20,000 ration card holders have withdrawn 3,800 quintals of rice from the Mancheswar ATM.
•
The initiative, sponsored by UN World Food Programme (WFP), aims for 24/7 nutritional security via Aadhaar-based biometric access.
