Punjab's Kathgarh gets Lift Irrigation scheme, boosts Kandi region farming

•Punjab Cabinet minister Barinder Kumar Goyal inaugurated the Kathgarh Lift Irrigation scheme.
•The project will irrigate 11,500 acres across 33 villages, enhancing agricultural productivity and farmer income.
•It aims to reduce groundwater dependence and extend irrigation to areas previously deprived due to elevation challenges.
•The scheme is being executed in three phases, with the first phase covering 4,000 acres already completed.
•A 650 kW solar plant is installed to minimize electricity burden, and 94,000 km of pipelines ensure efficient water delivery.
