Rupee Hits Record Low of 92.45 Against US Dollar Amid Oil Surge, West Asia Conflict

The rupee slumped 20 paise to settle at a new record low of 92.45 (provisional) against the US dollar on Friday.
•
Rising crude oil prices, crossing USD 101/barrel, and the raging West Asia conflict fueled the currency's decline.
•
A stronger US dollar, heavy foreign fund outflows, and sustained selling in domestic equity markets further pressured the rupee.
•
Foreign institutional investors sold equities worth Rs 7,049.87 crore on a net basis on Thursday.
•
Analyst Anuj Choudhary of Mirae Asset ShareKhan expects the rupee to trade with a negative bias due to global risk aversion and inflation worries.
