Sebi introduces voluntary debit freeze for mutual fund folios to boost digital security

Sebi launches a voluntary debit freeze facility for mutual fund investors across demat and non-demat folios.
•
Aims to enhance digital security by preventing unit debits until the folio is unlocked.
•
The facility becomes effective from April 30.
•
Available to KYC-compliant investors with a valid email ID and mobile number, initially via RTAs through MF Central.
•
Amfi will prescribe detailed processes for locking/unlocking and list allowed transactions during the lock-in period.
