EPFO to Auto-Transfer Unclaimed PF Funds Directly to Bank Accounts

•EPFO launches pilot project to auto-transfer unclaimed PF funds (up to Rs 1,000) directly to bank accounts without application.
•Funds will be credited if the PF account has updated KYC and is linked to Aadhaar.
•Initial phase covers 1.33 lakh accounts with Rs 5.68 crore; plan to extend limit beyond Rs 1,000 after success.
•As of March 31, 2025, 31.83 lakh inactive PF accounts hold Rs 10,181 crore nationwide.
•The 'auto-settlement' process was approved at the 239th Central Board of Trustees (CBT) meeting on March 2, 2026.
