Ravi Kota to lead HAL as next CMD, taking charge in May 2026
- •Ravi Kota, currently Director (Operations) at HAL, has been selected as the next Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
- •He is widely recognized as the “LCA man” for his pivotal role in the indigenous Tejas fighter jet program, steering it into operational service.
- •Kota's appointment is set to take effect in May 2026, following the retirement of the current CMD, D.K. Sunil.
- •A mechanical engineer and alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad, Kota has over three decades of experience in aerospace and defence manufacturing.
- •He played a crucial role in the ₹36,000 crore contract for 83 Tejas Mk1A aircraft and establishing manufacturing facilities for 16 Tejas jets per year.
