Telangana Bans Almont-Kid Syrup Over Toxic Ethylene Glycol Adulteration
- •Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) issued an urgent advisory on January 10 to stop using Almont-Kid Syrup.
- •The syrup, prescribed for allergies, hay fever, and asthma in children, was found adulterated with highly toxic Ethylene Glycol (EG).
- •The alert came from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), East Zone, Kolkata, based on a laboratory report.
- •The DCA urged the public to immediately stop using the syrup and report possession to the nearest Drugs Control Authority or via their Toll-Free Number.
- •The adulterated syrup (Batch No.: AL-24002) was manufactured by Tridus Remedies, Bihar.
