Yaoshang is Manipur's major five-day spring festival, often called 'Manipuri Holi', combining sports, colors, and local dances like Thabal Chongba.

Originating from the Meitei community, it predates Vaishnavism but later incorporated Hindu rituals, especially those related to Krishna.

The festival begins with Yaoshang Mei Thaba, the ceremonial burning of a thatched hut, symbolizing the elimination of evil and rebirth.

Key rituals include Nakatheng (children collecting gifts), Thabal Chongba (moonlight folk dance), and Ningthourol Shaokhatpa (community fundraising).
•
Celebrations conclude with the Brajamai Procession and Halankar dance, followed by a flurry of colors, and feature traditional vegetarian delicacies.
