Mumbai Local: Panvel-Karjat Line Nears Completion, Set to Open Post-Monsoon

Mumbai's Panvel-Karjat new double suburban railway line is in final stages, expected to open after monsoon.

The 30 km route will expand Mumbai Suburban Railway to 408 km, offering a faster travel option to Karjat via Panvel.
•
The line includes five stations: Panvel, Chikhale, Poyanje (Mohape), Chowk, and Karjat, benefiting Navi Mumbai and Karjat commuters.
•
Approximately 85% of the project is complete, featuring the 2.6 km 'Vavarle' tunnel, the longest on Mumbai Suburban Railway.
•
Ballastless tracks, supported by concrete, have been used in the tunnels for the first time, enhancing strength.
