Karnataka GSDP Soars 8.1%, Budget Outlay Hits ₹4.5 Lakh Cr Amid Rising Debt

Karnataka's real GSDP grew by 8.1% in 2025-26, surpassing the national growth rate of 7.4%.
•
The FY 26-27 budget outlay is ₹4.5 lakh crore, a 9.4% increase, with public debt accounting for 30% of the ₹4,48,000 crore revenue expenditure.
•
Outstanding liabilities are projected to reach ₹8,24,390 crore by end of 2026-25, representing 25% of GSDP.
•
CM Siddaramaiah flagged a ₹10,000 crore revenue hit from GST rate changes in the current fiscal, expected to rise to ₹15,000 crore in FY 27.
•
The 16th Finance Commission recommended a 4.13% tax devolution share for Karnataka, a 13% increase over the 15th FC's recommendation.
