Supreme Court Dismisses Plea for Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti Holiday

Supreme Court dismisses a petition seeking to declare Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti a public holiday nationwide.

Justice Sandeep Mehta remarked, "My uncle used to say that India is a holy land of holidays. Please do not add any more holidays to it."

The petition, filed by Akhil Bhartiya Shriromani Singh Sabha, also sought guidelines for declaring public holidays.

Senior Advocate Vikas Singh argued for a clear policy on public holidays, stating the government should formulate one.

The bench, comprising Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta, dismissed the petition, citing too many existing religious festivals.
