Telangana Road Safety Cess: New Vehicles Cost More From March 1
•Telangana implements Road Safety Cess from March 1, making new vehicles more expensive.
•Cess amounts: 2,000 rupees for non-transport motorcycles, 5,000 rupees for LMV (excluding agricultural tractors), and 10,000 rupees for other vehicle categories.
•Passenger auto-rickshaws (4-7 seats) are exempt from the 10,000 rupee cess.
•New four-wheeler light goods vehicles will now pay a lifetime tax of 7.5% of the total cost.
•Funds collected (estimated 270 crore rupees annually) will be used for road engineering, black spot rectification, emergency medical services, and safety campaigns.
