Passive Funds AUM Soars 38% YoY to ₹15.02 Lakh Crore in January 2026

Passive assets under management (AUM) in India's mutual fund industry surged by 37.7% year-on-year, reaching ₹15.02 lakh crore in January 2026.
•
The share of passive strategies within total industry AUM grew from 12% in January 2022 to 19% in January 2026, driven by ETFs and index products.
•
Overall industry AUM stood at ₹81.01 lakh crore, with a 22% CAGR over five years and 20% over a decade.
•
Individual investors now account for 60% of total mutual fund AUM, with retail AUM growing nearly eightfold over the past decade.
•
Monthly SIP gross sales hit ₹31,002 crore, up 17% YoY, and SIP AUM rose 24% to ₹16.36 lakh crore, with 10.29 crore SIP accounts.
