RTI Shock: 96 Lakh Ujjwala Beneficiaries Skip LPG Refill in FY25
•
RTI response from IOCL reveals approximately 96 lakh PMUY beneficiaries did not refill LPG cylinders even once in FY25.
•
The number of non-refillers has steadily increased from 45 lakh in FY21 to nearly 96 lakh in FY25.
•
This indicates that many poor families are still unable to regularly use clean LPG despite receiving connections.
•
Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has issued 4.95 crore LPG connections under PMUY, the highest among public sector oil companies.
•
The government provides a ₹1,600 subsidy per connection, with Ujjwala 2.0 offering the first refill and stove free of charge.
