Cooked Chicken in Fridge: How Long is it Safe? Experts Reveal Storage Secrets
•
Cooked chicken is safe for only 3-4 days when refrigerated at 4°C or below, according to food safety experts.
•
Beyond this period, microorganisms gradually grow, potentially spoiling chicken internally even if its smell or taste seems fine.
•
Refrigerate cooked chicken within 2 hours (1 hour if outside temp >32°C) in airtight containers, divided into smaller portions for faster cooling.
•
Discard chicken if it has a sour or pungent smell, feels sticky or slimy, or shows green mold, as these are clear signs of spoilage.
•
Always reheat refrigerated chicken thoroughly to at least 72°C (165°F) before consumption to kill any remaining bacteria and ensure safety.
