CAG flags massive wasteful spending, idle tourism assets in Arunachal Pradesh

CAG audit reveals major deficiencies in Arunachal Pradesh tourism projects, citing wasteful expenditure, fund diversion, and non-functional assets.

Projects were implemented ad-hoc, with sites shifted without approval, and funds worth Rs 6.17 crore were parked to avoid budget lapse.

14 projects, including some under PIDDC, were abandoned after incurring Rs 14.01 crore, rendering the expenditure wasteful.

Irregular payments of Rs 8.16 crore were made for unexecuted components, flagged as potentially fraudulent.
•
41 tourism assets, costing Rs 87.92 crore, remained idle and non-functional for up to 109 months.
