India's Nuclear Power Surges: 56,681 MU Generated in 2024-25, New Reactors Planned

India's nuclear plants generated 56,681 MU of power in 2024-25, a significant increase from previous years.
•
Total energy generation was 45,855 MU in 2022-23 and 47,971 MU in 2023-24.
•
The country currently has an installed nuclear power capacity of 8,780 MW from 24 plants.
•
Eighteen new nuclear power reactors with a total capacity of 13,600 MW are planned for implementation.
•
Bharatiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam Limited is commissioning a 500 MW Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor (PFBR) at Kalpakkam, Tamil Nadu.
