Unemployment Dips to 4.9% in Feb: Govt Survey Reveals Key Trends
•Overall unemployment among persons aged 15 years and above fell marginally to 4.9% in February from 5% in January, according to the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS).
•Urban unemployment rate declined to 6.6% in February, falling below December 2025 levels, while rural unemployment remained stable at 4.2%.
•Overall female unemployment rate decreased to 5.1% in February, with urban female UR at 8.7% and rural female UR at 4.0%.
•The overall Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) remained unchanged at 55.9%, though urban LFPR and rural female LFPR saw marginal increases.
•The Worker Population Ratio (WPR) showed slight improvements, reaching 53.2% overall in February, with similar trends in rural and urban areas.
