Delhi Extends Current Excise Policy for a Year; Retail Licences to be Renewed

Delhi government extends existing excise regime for one year due to pending work on a new liquor policy.

The excise department's order on Tuesday approves renewal and grant of new retail liquor licences for 2026-27 under current terms.

This extension applies to various licence types including L-6, L-10, L-14, and L-23, continuing from previous years.

Separate circulars will be issued for retail licences covering IMFL, foreign liquor, beer, and country liquor.
•
The current policy, in effect since 2022-23, continues after a previous reformative policy involving private players was scrapped.
