•Family alleges he took the extreme step due to fear after his name was excluded from the final SIR list.
•He had participated in a hearing and filled Form 6, but suffered extreme anxiety over his stay in India.
•Jalpaiguri Municipality Chairman Saikat Chatterjee criticized the Election Commission, citing SIR-related panic deaths.
•Kotwali Police Station is investigating all aspects of the incident.
